Heliport

In 2018, the plan arose from a residents' initiative to replace part of the petrified inner area of Heliport with greenery. That was the impetus for a collaboration between residents, the municipality and the water board of Schieland and Krimpenerwaard, to tackle the entire inner area.
The new inner area is now greener and climate-proof: more resistant to prolonged, heavy rain and extreme heat.

Stones have been replaced by various types of greenery and flowers. A clean water sewer has been installed and, where possible, the downspouts are disconnected from the inner courtyard. The water is collected and led to the Karnemelkshaven, where it flows around and through the complex.

The new playground equipment on the square is made of wood and there is a 'worm hotel'. Here the worms make compost from the GFE waste. This compost is then used for the maintenance of greenery in the courtyard.
